Happy Father's Day!

Brennan asked me to post an extra-special message to his Daddy, Pops, J-Pop, and all of the other awesome dads that he knows. Happy Father's Day! We love you :o)

(Please note I am typing this blog from Cobb Island, MD and have no pictures of B with his Pops to post. Check back for a picture on Monday!)

Feelin' Hot, Hot, Hot!

It has definitely been hot, hot, hot around here lately. It's sad when you're excited to see the meteorologist only predict a high of 90, because that pales in comparison to the 105 degree weather we had last week and the beginning of this week. Although, after watching the news this morning and seeing the reports of flooding, tornados, and wild fires I feel selfish for complaining about a little discomfort from heat and humidity. Afterall, I am quite blessed to have a roof over my head, food in my belly (though maybe a little less food wouldn't hurt!), clothes on my back, and most importantly - central AC! Here are some pictures of my little friend enjoying the sunshine.

Brennan and the 3 B's!

1) Big B - Last week we got to spend some time with Big B who was in town from San Diego. He was chosen to attend a conference in Quantico, VA and fortunately the Marines allowed him to take some leave and come home for a week afterwards. It's always great seeing him and Lil B LOVES spending time with Uncle B. In fact, he was sure to tell all of us it's "My B!".

2) Ba - Brennan has finally parted with his beloved "Ba" (pacifier). He loved it dearly, but was becoming far too attached to it and wanting it all the time and not just at night/nap. He's almost 2 years and 4 months and we're trying to potty train him so it was time for him to be a big boy and say goodbye to Ba. So, this past Saturday B and I went to Target and did some shopping. He decided that he would give his Ba to the "yady" (lady) cashier and buy a...

3) Big Boy Bike! That's right, his very first big boy bike with training wheels. It's really small and absolutely adorable. He's learning to use the pedals instead of his feet and he's doing great. Of course I haven't taken any pictures (sorry!). So the first couple days he asked for his Ba I just reminded him that it's gone because he gave it to the lady. So far, so good!

Has it really been 2 weeks?!

I apologize for the lack of updates to the blog lately. Brennan has been fighting an ear infection, sinus infection, and a cold. He seems to be doing much better now, but I can hardly breathe because I am so congested! At least Josh and B have both recovered from their sicknesses so I can be miserable on my own.

Here are some new pictures of our little man. It was so nice outside today that his Nana took him to the Breton Bay beach to play. It looks like he had a blast!

He's Momma's little wild man!

How can you not love that sweet face?!

The Caterpillar Hunter!

Brennan's latest obsession is caterpillars. Which is good because there's about a million of them in/around our yard. He doesn't like to touch them, have them put on his shirt (Josh just had to try!) or really get too close to them, but he is very intrigued by them. He makes note of how many there are in a certain location and he keeps a close eye on where they are going. His favorite thing to do with the caterpillars though is pick them up with sticks. It almost looks like he's fishing for them! Here are some photos of B caterpillar hunting with his Pops last week:

St. Mary's County Fun

What "county" kids do for fun...
Visiting with "LiLi" and Kathryn last week...
For the longest time B would always say "I fly" while we discussing his day at Pops & Nana's house. I never quit understood what he meant until I saw it for myself...

Poor little bunny!

Brennan has been fighting off a cold/virus for most of the week. We knew something was wrong when he started acting cuddly and actually sat still for more than 3 minutes at a time! Josh took him to see Dr. Miller on Wednesday afternoon, and sure enough, he had a fever of 103.3 degrees. Fortunately, his ears and throat looked fine so it appears that whatever he is fighting is viral and will run its course.

Brennan has been quite a trooper though and doesn't seemed phased by the bug as long as we keep the fever down with Motrin. All in all, he's a pretty good patient...unlike most men! As a special treat, his daddy rented him The Bee Movie and Alvin and the Chipmunks (which we've watched 5 times since Wednesday night!).

Every Little Bit Counts!

Brennan finally went in for his 2-year checkup today. He was supposed to go on Presidents Day (2/18), but his dippy Momma forgot to take him! I was so pre-occupied with taking Big B to the airport that Lil B's appointment slipped my mind. So his "free" well-baby visit ended up costing me $20 in missed appointment fees. Oops!
Needless to say the little guy is healthy and is doing everything a "normal" 2-year old should. He now weighs a whopping 23 pounds (wish I could give him some of my chubbs!) and is 31 1/4" tall...or is he?! You see, when the nurse measured him he wouldn't hold still and I think she just gave up and blurted out a number. I had been looking through Brennan's record book in the waiting room and noticed that at his 18-month appointment he was 31" long, so I knew that the height she gave couldn't possibly be right. Once I saw the doctor, I demanded a re-measure. It turns out that he is actually 32 3/4". MUCH BETTER! So, he is in the 5th percentile for weight and between the 5th and 10th percentile for height. We're just happy that he's on the charts!
The funny part of the appointment was when the nurse had to prick his finger to get blood for his lead test. She pricked his finger and though he didn't cry, he also didn't want to sit there and let her squeeze blood out of him. So we made it a game and said "Look you're coloring; Fill in the circles!", which he was more than happy to do. I just hope that any future injuries don't prompt him to "color" on any walls or furniture!
