Has it really been 2 weeks?!

I apologize for the lack of updates to the blog lately. Brennan has been fighting an ear infection, sinus infection, and a cold. He seems to be doing much better now, but I can hardly breathe because I am so congested! At least Josh and B have both recovered from their sicknesses so I can be miserable on my own.

Here are some new pictures of our little man. It was so nice outside today that his Nana took him to the Breton Bay beach to play. It looks like he had a blast!

He's Momma's little wild man!

How can you not love that sweet face?!

Gathering rocks

His favorite part of the visit - throwing rocks in the water!

The Caterpillar Hunter!

Brennan's latest obsession is caterpillars. Which is good because there's about a million of them in/around our yard. He doesn't like to touch them, have them put on his shirt (Josh just had to try!) or really get too close to them, but he is very intrigued by them. He makes note of how many there are in a certain location and he keeps a close eye on where they are going. His favorite thing to do with the caterpillars though is pick them up with sticks. It almost looks like he's fishing for them! Here are some photos of B caterpillar hunting with his Pops last week:

3 Years Later...

Josh and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary yesterday. Seems like it's been much longer than that...hehehe!

St. Mary's County Fun

What "county" kids do for fun...
Visiting with "LiLi" and Kathryn last week...
For the longest time B would always say "I fly" while we discussing his day at Pops & Nana's house. I never quit understood what he meant until I saw it for myself...

Poor little bunny!

Brennan has been fighting off a cold/virus for most of the week. We knew something was wrong when he started acting cuddly and actually sat still for more than 3 minutes at a time! Josh took him to see Dr. Miller on Wednesday afternoon, and sure enough, he had a fever of 103.3 degrees. Fortunately, his ears and throat looked fine so it appears that whatever he is fighting is viral and will run its course.

Brennan has been quite a trooper though and doesn't seemed phased by the bug as long as we keep the fever down with Motrin. All in all, he's a pretty good patient...unlike most men! As a special treat, his daddy rented him The Bee Movie and Alvin and the Chipmunks (which we've watched 5 times since Wednesday night!).

Every Little Bit Counts!

Brennan finally went in for his 2-year checkup today. He was supposed to go on Presidents Day (2/18), but his dippy Momma forgot to take him! I was so pre-occupied with taking Big B to the airport that Lil B's appointment slipped my mind. So his "free" well-baby visit ended up costing me $20 in missed appointment fees. Oops!
Needless to say the little guy is healthy and is doing everything a "normal" 2-year old should. He now weighs a whopping 23 pounds (wish I could give him some of my chubbs!) and is 31 1/4" tall...or is he?! You see, when the nurse measured him he wouldn't hold still and I think she just gave up and blurted out a number. I had been looking through Brennan's record book in the waiting room and noticed that at his 18-month appointment he was 31" long, so I knew that the height she gave couldn't possibly be right. Once I saw the doctor, I demanded a re-measure. It turns out that he is actually 32 3/4". MUCH BETTER! So, he is in the 5th percentile for weight and between the 5th and 10th percentile for height. We're just happy that he's on the charts!
The funny part of the appointment was when the nurse had to prick his finger to get blood for his lead test. She pricked his finger and though he didn't cry, he also didn't want to sit there and let her squeeze blood out of him. So we made it a game and said "Look you're coloring; Fill in the circles!", which he was more than happy to do. I just hope that any future injuries don't prompt him to "color" on any walls or furniture!

Little Humans

On Tuesday, while enjoying the sunshine, Nana managed to capture a video of Fiona and Brennan acting, well, like humans! According to Nana, Brennan was playing with a toy and then put it down. (The law in Nana-land is that once a toy is no longer being used, then it is fair game for someone else to use.) So, Fiona decided that she wanted to play with Brennan's discarded toy. Brennan, of course, then wanted to toy back but was told that he needed to wait until Fiona was finished playing with it - that's the rule. Moments later, Nana was taking a video of Brennan climbing on the swing set like a good little monkey, when all of a sudden...

For those of you who don't speak fluent toddler, Brennan is saying "I play", and Fiona is screaming "Come here guy". From the looks of the video, I think B was going to play in the sand with the toy. However, once he knew that Fiona was upset by him using the toy, he decided to do what most little boys would do - run away with it and make her scream even louder!

Two Days in a Row?!

That's right - I'm actually going to update the blog more than once this week. Go me! Nana has some really cute pictures of B from the past week so of course I can't resist sharing them!

While Mommy & Daddy were away last weekend, Pops couldn't resist breaking out the old sling shot and teaching B to shoot squirrels, I mean trees =o) Afterall, he is 2 now!

Don't you get it?!

Brennan is really talking up a storm these days. Unfortunately, only people who see him on a regular basis can understand most of the things he says. Even I find myself asking him repeatedly what it is he wants at times. Brennan also seems to really enjoy singing. "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", "The B-I-B-L-E", "Jesus Loves B (me)", and "I've Got the Joy" are some of his favorites. He is growing up so quickly!

Last Saturday he spent the night with his Nana & Pops and they were able to get some good footage of him "singing" as he played with blocks:
